Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend
The weekend is here and the Super Bowl is just hours away. I’ve got all the food and beer ready to go! Looking forward to spending the day grazing on chips & dips, shrimps, meatballs, and a number of other scrumptious apps.
Other than that, we don’t have many plans for the weekend. Gonna be dog-sitting for Puck, so we’ll be a bit pre-occupied with the four dogs in the house.
If you’re looking to get out & do something in the Coulee Region over the next couple of days, you’ve got a LOT of options.
FRIDAY – LA CROSSE SPORT SHOW @ THE LA CROSSE CENTER
If it’s outside, it’s at the La Crosse Sport Show at the La Crosse Center this weekend!

Plus, grilling tips from the experts – Mad Dog & Merrill, and Sarah Twister brings her contortionist archery show to town!
This event actually runs all weekend, including Thursday, Friday from 10am until 8pm, Saturday from 9am until 8pm, & Sunday from 10am until 3pm.
Tickets for adults are just $10 in advance and can be purchased here.($12 day of). Kids under the age of 5 get in free!

SATURDAY – 10TH & FINAL BEER FEST AT FOX HOLLOW GOLF COURSE & EVENT CENTER
You know me…I LOVE a good beer. More accurately, I love good beers! And Fox Hollow already has a stellar beer list in the bar & grill…but this Saturday from 1-4pm you can sample over twenty rare & limited release craft beers from eleven fantastic Midwest breweries.
Sadly, this will be the last year they host this event at Fox Hollow, so don’t miss it!
Tickets are just $43 and include your commemorative tasting glass, and unlimited free samples! Buy them online here. The beer tasting is from 1-4pm, with live music from Zeke Fritz from 2:30pm until 5:30pm. And don’t forget that they’ve also got a hell of a menu at Fox Hollow when you get hungry!

SATURDAY – WINTER ROOTS FESTIVAL @ THE LA CROSSE CENTER
The 4th Annual Winter Roots Festival is Saturday at the La Crosse Center, featuring music, cuisine, local beer and spirits!
This year’s lineup includes Horsehoes & Hand Grenades, Them Coulee Boys, The Remainders, Copper Box, the Bryce Thomaschefsky Band, Gregg “Cheech” Hall, Dan Sebranek & Mary, Randy Erickson, and more!
Grab your general admission tickets online or upgrade to the VIP package! VIP tickets include early entry(45 minutes prior to GA), one complimentary Bloody Mary from the La Crosse Distilling Co. or a complimentary Winter Roots Red beer(created by Leinenkugel’s), a free Winter Roots Festival pint glass, and VIP seating closer to the stage!
There’s also an artist & makers market that is free for all to attend & open to all ages, along with a silent auction & raffle to benefit the Hunger Task Force!
Doors for the VIP ticket holders open at 11:30am, and GA doors are at 12:15pm. The silent auction runs from noon until 6:45pm and the artist & makers market is from 11:30am until 5:30pm

SUNDAY – CUSTOMER APPRECIATION PARTY & SUPER BOWL WATCH PARTY @ THE MIRAGE
If you’re looking to get out of the house & watch the Super Bowl with others, stop by the Mirage Sports Bar & Grill on the south side of town for food, drinks, prizes, the game & more!
Has it really been THREE years since they cracked open the new Mirage?? Time for a customer appreciation party!
Doors at the Mirage open at 11am on Sunday and you can expect a fun-filled day of raffles, door prizes, and food and drink specials!
