3 St Paddy’s Day Songs That Totally Jam
It’s St Paddy’s Day, one of my favorite holidays of the year!
All of the good holidays have great music to go along with them. After all, we need those anthems to play and sing (poorly) when we’re out at the bar. Here’s 3 jams you’re sure to hear somewhere today if you’re hanging around in the right spot.
1. U2 – “Where the Streets Have No Name”
When you’re thinkin’ Irish, U2 comes to mind for a lot of people. Me too. Now, a lot of people would put “Sunday Bloody Sunday” on this list. It’s a good jam, but for what it’s worth, I’ve always thought “Where the Streets Have No Name” was just a better song. So it makes the list.
2. Alestorm – “Drink”
Alright, technically Alestorm is a Scottish band. I get why some people would nit pick this one from me. But it still has that Gaelic sound, and they write a lot of songs about drinking. Isn’t that basically the spirit of how we celebrate St Paddy’s Day? So I include it here. Cheers.
3. Dropkick Murphys – “Kiss Me, I’m S*&$faced”
If we’re all being honest, this whole list could have just been songs from Dropkick Murphys. But if I had to pick one, this one would be it. Most people would place “Shipping Up to Boston” here. It’s a good song, but I’m not from Boston. I feel a stronger connection with this song, especially with how brutally honest it is in the end. A true St Paddy’s Day must-hear song for me.
