The Monday Morning Throwback – “Fact or Bullcrap” – Christmas tree edition
Back in 2013, we played a Christmas tree-edition of “Fact or Bullcrap” with Scott Robert Shaw and he actually did pretty well. (even though Brian miscounted how many he actually got correct)
Which is surprising, since he’s kind of a Grinch and doesn’t even put up his own Christmas tree.
1. People have been buying Christmas trees since the 1500’s.
Shaw said – Bullcrap
Correct answer – Fact: The Germans started selling them in the 1530’s.
2. There are just under 2,000 Christmas tree farms in the United States.
Shaw said – Fact
Correct answer – Bullcrap: The real number is 15,000. Around 350 MILLION Christmas trees are currently growing on 350,000 acres of land.
3. Lowes sells more Christmas trees in the U.S. than any other retailer.
Shaw said – Bullcrap
Correct answer – Bullcrap: Home Depot does. They sold 2.6 million trees last year.
4. Christmas trees are grown in all 50 states.
Shaw said – Bullcrap
Correct answer – Fact: They even grow them in Hawaii. The states that produce the most trees are Oregon, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Washington. But 80% of FAKE trees come from China.
5. On average, it takes four years for a Christmas tree to grow to the ideal height of six or seven feet.
Shaw said – Bullcrap
Correct answer – Bullcrap: It takes an average of SEVEN years. But it CAN take up to 15.
