The Best Songs We’re Not Playing …Yet
Since becoming 95.7’s music man, I’ve been introduced to A LOT of new music. Unfortunately, not all of it makes it to the airwaves. But that doesn’t mean I don’t think you should check it out. Who knows, if you dig it like I dig it, perhaps we find some space for it after all. But for now, here’s a few tunes we aren’t playing …yet, but I think you should check out anyway.
Coheed and Cambria – Shoulders
I happen to be quite a HUGE fan of Coheed on my own time. They’re a band I used to listen to a lot back in the day when I used to work in kitchens. They’re also a huge part of my delinquent youth. I listened to them while working in kitchens so much, that I still put them on in my kitchen at home when I cook for my own family. Well they scored a pretty good hit with this one. Listen for yourself
Maneskin – I Wanna Be Your Slave
These guys are, well, different. But different in a good way if you ask me! They’re an Italian rock band, and I’m already down with the Italian scene in rock music, being a fan of Lacuna Coil. Their lead singer, Damiano David, was actually featured on the Italian version of X-Factor. He has a great voice and a definite stage presence that actually somewhat reminds me of a mix of Freddy Mercury and Paul Stanley. Their song, Beggin, has been all over TikTok, and they’ve performed it live on The Voice, Jimmy Fallon, and Ellen. This song here is their latest, and is pretty rockin’ as well. Check it out.
Turnstile – Blackout
That brings me to the last one for today. Turnstile is a band that’s very much new to me. Hailing from Maryland, this band brings back that old 90’s punk feel I’ve loved and missed so much over the years. If you’re a video gamer like me, you may understand when I say this tune sounds like something you’d hear on a Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtrack. It’s super dope, and of all these songs, has found itself in my ear buds at home the most frequent.
Got something you’ve been listening to that you think I should check out? It’s not just my job, it’s my passion, and I’d LOVE to hear from you.
