Thanksgiving is Such a Criminally Underrated Holiday
I feel like I go through this every year, but I grow tired of Thanksgiving being pushed aside by the Christmas people. I’ve got nothing against Christmas, and obviously I love Halloween. But all too often, Thanksgiving gets forgotten about, and that shouldn’t happen to such a great holiday.
First, there’s the food. Thanksgiving dinner is the best meal of the year. You have the turkey, which some bake, fry, or smoke. I’m a fan of whichever. Then there’s the potatoes, a staple of every good meal. Then stuffing. Lots, and lots of stuffing. Other popular sides include green bean casserole, mac n cheese, corn or other veggies. And of course, gravy goes on everything!
And let’s not forget the pie! Pumpkin is my personal favorite, but a big shout out to apple and pecan.
And if you’re a football fan, this day is a double whammy. Grab some beers, because there’s football on the TV all freakin’ day! Any time I can look up at the TV and see football being played, I’m a happy dude.
And most importantly, the day is about family. No pressure of giving gifts. No cheesy wedding proposals. No ugly sweaters. Just your family getting together for a great meal, with beers and football. The true American dream.
To you and yours, Happy Thanksgiving from 95.7 The Rock.
