Recap of my 2021 Harley-Davidson Road Glide test ride.

Last week, I took a couple of 2021 Street Glides out for a test ride, and if you missed my recap, you can read it here.

This week, Brody & the crew at Great River Harley-Davidson wanted to see how I felt about a 2021 Road Glide!

First things first, it was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day to go for a ride. I absolutely love riding in the fall. Chilly/cool in the mornings, warm in the midday, and then crisp in the late afternoon & evening. This time around, I decided to take County Road B. to County Road O. past Fox Hollow to the intersection by Nick’s Bar. I hung a left on County Road M. and rode to West Salem, then onto Highway 16 and back towards Onalaska.

The bike has the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine with PLENTY of power, standard ABS, the incredible Infotainment system, and allows for lots of customization.

Getting used to the fairings took a bit of time, but I really liked the extra distance between me & the dash/gauges. And unlike the Street Glide, I actually got to use the hill-assist this time around and it was awesome! Even on a very slight incline, you can activate the hill-assist easily with an extra squeeze on the brake. And once you let go of the brake, it’s like the bike is in park. Stays completely still!

I was able to take the bike overnight so that the wife & I could take it for a spin after she got done with work and she also enjoyed it’s smooth ride. However, the stock pegs are much smaller than the floorboards we have on the Road King that I currently ride, so I’d have to look at customizing those if I were to purchase the Road Glide.

Also, since I road the bike to work the following morning, I got to see just how bright the Daymaker headlight is!

DAMN!

That thing’s gotta be 50 times brighter than the bulb in my Road King. Definitely improved my visibility on the way to the station in the AM.

All in all, I really liked the bike, but I think I like the Street Glide Special a bit more with the extended protection for my hands behind the fairings.

Looking forward to this week when I’ll be test-riding a brand new Sportster S!
