Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.

An absolutely gorgeous day today before it completely nosedives on Saturday & Sunday.

Glad I was able to get the Harley out a few times this week before putting it away for a bit.

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend in the La Crosse area, you’re in luck! There’s a ton of things happening as we get ready for St. Paddy’s Day, and here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – RCCW SPRING FEVER 7 @ THE ROY L. VINGERS AMERICAN LEGION POST #52

River City Championship Wrestling is BACK for “Spring Fever 7” at the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post #52 this Friday night. Doors are at 6pm and the bell rings at 7pm to start the action in the ring!

Tickets can be purchased in advance online or you can grab them at the door while they last.

Some matches include the RCCW Heavyweight Champion putting his strap on the line against his old foe….”The All-Night Highlight”, Peter Schwanz! Arsenal vs. Matthews for the RCCW City of La Crosse Championship. Avalon taking on Riley for the Midwest Wrestling Championship. Two Tough Kids vs. the Dad Body Donnas…and many more!

SATURDAY – 20TH ANNNUAL ST. PADDY’S DAY .01K @ BROTHER’S BAR TO BENEFIT THE HUNGER TASK FORCE

How can it be that two decades have passed since we first ran 32.8 feet on Pearl St. to raise money for the Hunger Task Force???

Crazy.

We’re back on track and looking forward to this year’s “World’s Shortest Run/Walk” at Brothers Bar in downtown La Crosse.

It’s the St. Paddy’s Day .01k & you can register in advance online, or get signed up starting at 3pm at Brothers. Your registration includes a kick-ass t-shirt, a free green beer at Brothers Bar, and you’ll be helping out the HTF with your generosity!

Check-in/registration starts at 3pm and the run will go down at about 6pm. This year, we’ve got our very own version of the Blarney Stone courtesy of our friends at County Materials in Holmen, and we’ll have your chance to win a pot of gold! Plus, our friends from Thorson Graphics will have some special items to hand out.

Big thanks to our incredible sponsors for making this all possible, including Brothers Bar, County Materials in Holmen, Marine Credit Union, Schneider Accounting & Tax, Paul’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Thorson Graphics, and April Carrier – Farmers Insurance!

SUNDAY – 58TH ANNUAL SHELBY FIRE DEPARTMENT CHICKEN-Q @ THE SHELBY FIRE DEPARTMENT

Everything is coming up Simpson!

The wife is out of town all weekend. The .01k is always a blast, followed by Irish car-bombs & several beers, and the 58th Annual Shelby Fire Department Chicken Q is on Sunday…allowing me the opportunity to eat some delicious Q on Sunday…and plenty of corned beef & cabbage on Monday!

And the Shelby Fire Department is literally a stone’s throw from my house, so I can smell it all day & walk over there to get my meal in a jiff!

$12 get you a half of a chicken, cooked to perfection, by local Firefighters. This meal also includes a baked potato, beans, coleslaw & a dinner roll.

Tickets are available online or at the Shelby Town Hall, so get yours NOW!
