Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend!
Number one thing I’m doing this weekend is getting my truck into a car wash. It’s filthy right meow. Definitely needs a bath.
Temps should be in the low-40’s by Sunday and nearing 50° early next week.
If you’re looking for something to do in the area this weekend, here’s a few suggestion:
FRIDAY – CANADIAN TUXEDO NIGHT @ THE ALPINE INN WITH PAT MCCURDY
Not sure why we started doing all these theme nights for Pat McCurdy‘s visits to the Coulee Region, but for the last umpteen years, we’ve dressed in our Lederhosen & Dirndls for Pat at Oktoberfest, we’ve donned our ugliest Christmas sweaters for his annual holiday shows, and we’ve also gotten decked out for Adult Prom.
Hell, we even had a “Funny Hat Night” at one point.
But off all our theme nights at the Alpine Inn with Pat McCurdy, this one might be my favorite. It’s “Canadian Tuxedo Night” on Friday evening with everyone rocking their best denim-on-denim look!
I know things are a bit contentious right now between the US & Canada, but this Canadian classic is still OK in my book. So, get your duff up the bluff on Friday night & enjoy some food, drinks, live tunes from Pat, and make sure you come dressed to impress with your absolute BEST denim-on-denim look!
Pat starts at 7pm, so get to the Alpine Inn early!

SATURDAY – VOLSON @ FOX HOLLOW GOLF & EVENT CENTER
I’ll be completely honest. I’ve yet to see this band live.
However, they do play a wide variety of my favorite music! So this week might be the opportune time to get to Fox Hollow in Barre Mills and check out Volson on Saturday night!
Doors at Fox Hollow open at 7pm & music starts at 8pm. You can purchase tickets in advance for just $7 online, or grab yours at the door for just $10. This show is 21+, FYI.
And as I always like to mention, they’ve got amazing food & one of the best beer selections in the region at Fox Hollow!
Volson plays all your favorite 90’s alternative & grunge songs from bands like Pearl Jam, STP, Tonic, Alice in Chains, Matchbox 20, and many others!

SUNDAY – CHASEBURG AREA CANCER WALK CHICKEN Q & BAKE SALE
It’s that time of the year!
Time to fire up those grills for Chicken Q fundraisers!
Take the short drive to Chaseburg on #SundayFunday & grab some Q and help out the Chaseburg Area Cancer Walk!
This drive-thru/dine-in event will be at the Tippy Toe Inn starting at 11am and running until the chicken is gone!
There will also be a bake sale featuring homemade pastries & various other baked goods!
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Chaseburg Area Cancer Walk happening on September 20th.
