The Packers Can Run The Table

It’s been a very popular phrase every year around this point of the season. Every team wants to finish strong and “Run The Table” on the rest of the schedule. But can the Packers actually do it this year? I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but I do believe it’s possible. Let’s take a look at their remaining opponents and I’ll give you my reasons why the Pack could sweep the home stretch.

Dec 5th @ Lions
The Lions struck first this year with a win over the Packers in Lambeau. However, it’s worth remembering a couple of things. First, Jordan Love was still not 100% after coming off of a groin injury. That was actually the 2nd time this season I felt the Packers brought him back too soon from being hurt. Josh Jacobs was also not 100% after suffering an ankle injury in the previous game against Jacksonville, and Jaire Alexander was ruled out for that game due to injury as well.
That leads me to my second point. The Packers look to be the healthy team going into this game, while the Lions are now banged up. Levi Onwuzurike, DJ Reader, Josh Paschal, Taylor Decker, and others did not practice today, with others like Carlton Davis on limited practice. So the Lions are vulnerable.
On top of that, we all know from Thanksgiving last year that the Packers can beat the Lions in Detroit when they’re healthy.

Dec 15th @ Seahawks
The Seahawks are 7-5 and lead their division. But does anybody actually believe in them? I believe their record is more of a product of them being the only decent team in an otherwise shaky division. Every time they’ve faced actual opposition, they’ve lost. Besides, these guys lost to the Giants….
…The freakin’ Giants?
Yeah. I’m not scared.

Dec 23rd vs Saints
The Saints will come marching into Lambeau, and limp out with their tails tucked between their legs. This is a team that’s 3rd place in the NFC’s crappiest division. Don’t make me laugh.
Packers by 30.

Dec 29th @ Vikings
This one could be, as good ol’ JR would say, a slobberknocker. The Vikings have definitely shown signs of weakness, but they’ve also shown their ability to stay in games when the cards fall down. They showed a lot of spirit in that comeback victory last week against the Cardinals. But let’s call a spade a spade. They never should have had that much trouble with a team like the Cardinals, and if they do that against a better team like Green Bay, they won’t bounce back.
They won their first meeting with the Packers, but this was Jordan Love’s first game after coming off of his knee injury that many thought would end his season after week 1. This was the first of two times I felt Green Bay brought him back a game too early. He spent all day unable to transfer his weight through the throws, and the end result was a buttload of interceptions. But even with that, Love was able to rally the Packers back to within 2 points in a game many believed to be a blowout at halftime. Love is healthy now, and I believe he’ll flip the script.

Jan (TBD) vs Bears
That brings us to the end of the season. This game is admittedly more worrisome to me than I care to admit. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not worried. But it’s not the guaranteed victory I’d like it to be.
Our first meeting this year saw a very close game. The Packers’ defense played awful against an offensive line they should’ve eaten alive. Caleb Williams should have been sacked 50 times in that game, and yet he was barely even hurried. While our offense proved virtually unstoppable against a good Bears defense, they’re offense proved unstoppable to ours. That can’t happen again.
The Bears just fired Eberflus, and this is the major cause of any concerns I have for this game. As of now, none of us know exactly how much of a negative effect he had on this team. Was he the core problem, or just the one shouldering the blame for a team just as bad as him? Will a replacement coach breath new life into this team, or will they just go through the motions and stumble out of this season until they find a permanent replacement. So many questions.
Either way, we beat them once. We can do it again.
