GoFundMe for Emerson Small
Nine year old Emerson Small was our 2023 Big Bikes kid & she needs our help again.
Just a few days ago, Emerson went into cardiac arrest while at home. Her parents were both at work, but thankfully, her grandparents were with her at the time and acted quickly to begin CPR. Emerson was transported to Gundersen in La Crosse & she is currently stable in the Pediatric ICU.
Emerson was born with a very rare genetic disorder. She has a duplication of the 16th chromosome, and a deletion of the 20th chromosome. This combination is so rare, there has not even been any scientific research on it yet.
Emerson spent the first month of life in the NICU at Gundersen. She has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures, has significant hearing loss and vision issues. At just four months old she was diagnosed with seizures, which have evolved into a severe form of epilepsy. Emerson has mobility challenges, relies on the use of a walker, or wheelchair, and has developmental delays.
Her family & friends have established a GoFundMe account to help pay for Emerson’s care & other costs related to her current situation. They have also set up a Caring Bridge account with addition information & updates.
